Sep 2004 Flood - Suwannee Basin
Flood Event occurred from rainfall on 7 Sep with Hurricane Francis and again on 10 Sep from heavy rainfall event associated with a front across North Florida.

Overview
On 18 September, Joel Lanier, Al Sandrik (WCM WFO Jacksonville) and Bob Kerns (HMT WFO Jacksonville) traveled to the Columbia County EMA office and met with the Columbia County Emergency Manager. Al Sandrik and Joel Lanier were given a tour of the Rose Creek Flood area south of Lake City. Bob Kerns proceeded down to the Santa Fe River to survey the flooding in that area.

Rainfall - Hurricane Francis on 6-7 September 2004 and an additional strong frontal system on 10 September 2004 dropped over 14 inches of rain across Northern Florida and Lake City area. This generated significant flooding on the Suwannee and Santa Fe Rivers and Rose Creek Drainage south of Lake City.
Hydrology - The rivers, creeks and water bodies affected included:
Suwannee River…Santa Fe River…Ichetucknee River, Rose Creek and Rose Sink.
Columbia County EMA reported that they had never seen such overland flow and flooding as occurred with this event.
